     Cheryl Carr, MA, ABC 


    Cheryl Carr is co-founder and chief operating officer of Carr Marketing Communications. She has more than 20 years experience in providing strategic communications counsel to clients with a primary focus on marketing consulting and healthcare communications.  In addition, she serves as the firm’s consultant for advertising production and placement.

    Cheryl’s expertise helped guide the development of first-time strategic marketing communications programs for the Western New York Association for Homes and Services for the Aging, Beechwood Continuing Care and Cuba (NY) Residential Care Facility; and a first-ever branding program for Lutheran Social Services in Jamestown, NY.  She assisted in the development and design of a regional web site for family caregivers, WNYSeniorCare.org, which won the 2007 Innovation of the Year award from the New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging.

    Foremost among her achievements has been the successful organization of communications of facilitation sessions on behalf of the New York Association of Area Agencies on Aging and the Community Health Foundation of Western and Central New York.

    Cheryl was also instrumental in the efforts leading to international and national recognition for the work done by Carr Marketing Communications on behalf of our clients. The outstanding results were two Gold Quill Awards from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and a Bronze Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

    Her community work has included participation as a troop leader and Council delegate for the Girl Scout Council of Buffalo & Erie County. She was the first ever from the Town of Amherst to be recognized by the Council with its “CEO Leadership Appreciation Award.”  She also serves on the advisory board for the Women’s Business Center at Canisius College and its marketing committee, and the Wellness Impact Council of United Way of Buffalo and Erie County.

    A native of Liverpool, NY, Cheryl has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Boston University's College of Communications and a master's degree in history from St. Bonaventure University. She is an accredited business communicator by IABC and is a past president of IABC’s Buffalo-area chapter.

    Cheryl began her career as a reporter/editor for Gannett Group newspapers and the former Buffalo Courier-Express. She then provided public relations services for two Pittsburgh, PA advertising/public relations firms and served as communications coordinator for Dresser Industries, a Fortune 100 company, in Olean, NY.
