Judith Nolan Powell, First Vice President for HSBC Bank USA, has served as Commercial Relationship Manager of the HSBC Center branch since February 2004 and is responsible for commercial business development and customer service in the Buffalo District.
Mrs. Powell, who joined HSBC in 1983 as Western Region Public Relations Director, managed the HSBC Center branch from 1993-2000. She served as Vice President & Senior Office Placements, Human Resources in 2000-2002. She managed the Elmwood Utica branch from 2002-2004.
Prior to joining HSBC, Mrs. Powell was employed at Trocaire College, first as Director, Evening & Summer Sessions and then Public Relations & Development.
Mrs. Powell holds a BA degree from SUNY Geneseo and a MS Education degree from SUC Buffalo. For a brief period immediately following graduation, she taught high school English in various area schools including Niagara Catholic High School in Niagara Falls.
Active in several community activities, Mrs. Powell is Chairman of the Community Council and past Trustee of WNY Public Broadcasting, Inc., and a Director of the Canisius College Women’s Business Center. She is also a former member of the Board of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Buffalo, the Nominating Committee for Everywomen Opportunity Center, Inc, Forever Elmwood and Trocaire College. During her tenure in Human Resources, she served as Vice Chairman of the Buffalo Niagara Parternship’s Workforce Development Council.
She was honored by the S.B.A. as the Women’s Business Advocate for Western New York in 2003 and was named to the prestigious HSBC Group Chairman’s Club in 2005. Both awards recognized her excellence in commercial business development and customer service. Trocaire College awarded her their first Reflections Award for outstanding volunteer service in 1992, and she was a 2003 honoree at the YMCA Leader Luncheon, nominated by WNY Public Broadcasting. In 2003, 2004, and 2005 HSBC recognized her as Small Business Banker of Buffalo District.
A Niagara Falls native, Mrs. Powell resides in Grand Island with her husband, William.
